Sensory Assessments

NDIS Sensory Assessments

At The OT Lab, our NDIS Sensory Assessments provide a detailed understanding of how sensory processing impacts an individual's daily life, learning, and social interactions. Conducted by experienced occupational therapists, these assessments identify sensory sensitivities, preferences, and processing differences across various environments.

What is a NDIS Sensory Assessments?

A NDIS Sensory Assessment is a specialised occupational therapy evaluation designed to explore how sensory processing differences impact an individual’s daily life. Through a structured assessment, we identify sensitivities or differences in processing sight, sound, touch, taste, smell, movement and body awareness, and determine how these influence participation, learning and independence.

Who Can Benefit?

  • Children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Individuals with ADHD, sensory processing disorder or intellectual disability

  • Participants experiencing anxiety, behavioural dysregulation or motor planning challenges

  • Anyone whose sensory needs affect home, school, work or community engagement

Our Assessment Process

Our comprehensive assessments typically include:

  • Detailed Interview and History: Understanding the individual's sensory experiences and daily challenges.
  • Standardised Assessment Tools: Utilising assessments such as the Sensory Profile 2 to identify specific sensory processing patterns.
  • Personalised Recommendations: Providing tailored strategies, therapy plans, and supports to manage sensory processing difficulties effectively.

The outcomes of our Sensory Assessments help participants, families, and carers understand sensory needs better and inform practical interventions aimed at enhancing participation, comfort, and overall quality of life.
